Citizen Phil, the author of the essays on this website, is Philip Kosdan of Carrboro, North Carolina.
Professionally, Philip Kosdan is a licensed acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist who has practiced this profession for 39 years in Vermont and North Carolina and currently has a home office with his wife.
Educationally, Phil has a B.A. from New York University in Sociology, a Master's Degree from New England School of Acupuncture in Traditional Chinese Medicine and another Master's Degree in Psychology from Vermont College. Besides being a constant reader of books, he takes college courses from The Great Courses online; and, he has taken three times as many college courses that way as he ever took in college.
Phil has a loving and wonderful wife of 30 years, two daughters and three granddaughters who are always adding joy to his life. He also lost a loving and magical son to cystic fibrosis at the age of 28 years old, whom he still mourns daily. He also has two grandsons through marriage.
Phil grew up in the Bronx, New York, Chicago, Illinois and then Brooklyn, New York before moving to Vermont where he lived for 17 years with an interruption of 3 years living in the Boston area and learning TCM. He has been now in North Carolina for 25 years.
Citizen Phil has always been interested in, has always studied and always thought about politics and society. He grew up in a very political family and from that family understood that there were different ways of looking at society and its organization. The product of all that interest, studying, thinking and family influence has produced a book titled SOLUTION, A Wiseacre's Guide For Cleaning Up The New World Odor, published several years ago. The essays on this website are from the ideas of that book. And more.
Citizen Phil is not satisfied with the American world as it is and wants to help change that.
